Nothing good in ‘no post-production’
It’s a bit funny for me when I see posts on Facebook, labeled with “no post-production”
THERE’S NOTHING GOOD IN THIS
I don’t know where this ‘idea’ started, but for sure there’s a lack of information from photography in it.
The Color Correction plays a very important role in photography: it allows to control tones, to give a mood, to have the total control on the final outcome.
If a real photographer did a ‘finished’ picture into the camera, he would be trapped because there’s no way to get back and have a full control of the image again.
You know, there are Video cameras that record footages in LOG formats: a super flat way!
Why? Because this gives you the TOTAL control on the sequence: if the lighting is intrinsically good, a flat image is an advantage because in post-production you can perform the color correction with the full control of the sequence
The image below is a good example:

This is an extreme example (We don’t work with LOGs!) but it gives you a wider vision on the topic
Returning to the main topic:
the idea of producing a finished render ‘without post-production’ is completely wrong
A little flat raw render is the best starting point to have the total control. Always.
It’s not my opinion,
this is how photography works.
Consider that when you’re working with V-Ray (or Corona or others) and you use the Frame Buffer controls like exposure, highlight compression, add LUTs etc.. you’re already making color correction. You’re already making post-production, even if “during” the production. Which is good of course.
